Join chef, writer and African food devotee Lerato Umah-Shaylor to discover the tastes, textures and goodness of traditional African cooking. It’s exciting, spicy, diverse and – thanks to Lerato – coming to Brighton!

In this pan-African culinary adventure, you will discover how to cook with the nutritious, gluten-free teff that is a mainstay of Ethiopian cooking (the new ‘superfood’). You will create a tasty Yassa or groundnut stew from Senegal, and learn how to spice and construct delicious aubergine rolls from Morocco. Roasted plantains from West Africa and Berbere roasted vegetables from Ethiopia will also feature in the incredible feast you will cook up and enjoy at the end of this class. Add some simply delicious East African spiced brownies for dessert and your African adventures ends on a top note.

Bring your own bottle to enjoy with the feast at the end of this exciting hands-on class. The class is plant based and great for most diets, from beginners to experts, leaving you inspired to add African vibrancy into your cooking.

Previous participants said: "Brilliant course! Lerato is a fantastic tutor." "I will try all of the new recipes, haven’t cooked west African before." "Liked the engaging, hands-on with the chef. Good way to spend an afternoon – good food, good company." "Built up my confidence! Will treat my family to a North African meal."
