Why do I need to interview?

Out of hundreds of applicants, we only ever select a few to come on our prestigious #SetReady Course. Interviewees are selected on attitude and who demonstrate a huge potential to work professionally in TV & Film.

To become a member of the National Youth Film Academy you must take part in and successfully complete our #SetReady Course. The course will identify and hone your talent as a filmmaker and actor with two weeks spent training in your chosen field, learning from well-respected industry professionals and meeting with like-minded individuals to write, film and produce your very own short film. In the past, we have had guest speakers such as:

Simon Bird: Actor - The InbetweenersIan Canning: Producer - The Kings Speech, MacbethJason Flemyng: Actor - X Men: First Class, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking BarrelKaren Lyndesy Stewart: Casting Director - Harry PotterGareth Edwards: Director - Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, GodzillaPhil Méheux: DOP - Casino Royale, The Smurfs, The Mask of ZorroPaul Alexander: Writer - Red Dwarf, Emmerdale

To name but a few...

Interview ProcessInterviews are very informal and relaxed. Once you have made your booking we will send you more information on what to prepare/what will be expected of you and the location of your audition/interview.

Why do we charge for the auditions/interviews?We search the whole of the UK for the best young actors and filmmakers. Our office is up North, which can be quite expensive for some potential participants to travel to.

To reduce the cost of your travel we ask each participant to pay a small amount to cover our cost for travel, accommodation and venue hire. This way we can invest funds in our courses and aftercare for our members.

Please be aware that if you are successful at audition/interview that the course does cost money. We do offer bursary and scholarship places for those who cannot afford these fees. If you have any further questions then you can contact us on 0191 348 0137.

Limited SpacesWe only ever audition a limited number of people for each course and spaces go quick! Make sure to book your audition/interview to avoid disappointment.
