The West Pier, Regent Cinema and Dance Hall, SS Brighton ice rink, Hanningtons department store, Lyons cafes… The list of attractions and amenities that have been lost in Brighton since the Second World War has been huge and wide-ranging. In this illustrated talk, Chris Horlock will look at the most significant losses, reflecting on the collective impact they have had both for Brighton’s residents and visitors.
A display of original material from our archives will be available to view from 5pm on the day of the talk, and copies of Lost Brighton will be for sale on the day.

Chris Horlock is a local historian and collector of old photographs. He is the author of several books focusing on the history of Brighton, the most recent of which, Lost Brighton, was published in March 2019. He is also a regular contributor to Sussex Life.

Tickets cost £5 per person and pre-booking is highly recommended. Visit https://thekeep.digitickets.co.uk/tickets to book.
