An opportunity to re-examine your early years curriculum & pedagogy in light of the new Ofsted Education Inspection Framework

This is NOT a set of courses on 'how to do well in inspection'. Rather they provide an opportunity to unpick and interpret some of the latest Ofsted terminology, with a view to ensuring that excellent early years practice remains, and changes are only made that are genuinely needed and impact positively for children. The focus throughout is on enabling delegates to develop or reaffirm a vision of ‘quality education’ for their children.

Explore the concept of curriculum within the early years, through the lens of the Ofsted terms “Intent, ‘Implementation’ and ‘Impact’.

Consider the interplay between content and pedagogical knowledge and why both are equally important for adults working in the EYFS.

Hear science of learning insights and consider how these are already being applied in excellent, child-centred early years settings and classrooms.

Re-evaluate what your setting or school already provides, curriculum wise for early years children and consider any elements you wish to develop further.

Leave feeling ready to start leading conversations about curriculum content and pedagogy back at your school or setting.

Monday 14th October 2019 4.30-6pm Session 1) Intent, implementation, impact: Building an EYs curriculum that is coherently planned and sequenced, yet remains appropriate and fully responsive to individual’s needs and interests.

Monday 2nd December 2019 4.30-6pm Session 2) Vocabulary in context: An evidence based approach to addressing the vocabulary gap and supporting young children to become effective communicators.

Monday 10th February 2020 4.30-6pm Session 3) Mathematics: Ensuring that the mathematics curriculum in the early years engages children, builds on what they know and can do and provides the foundation for more complex learning later on

Monday 30th March 2020 4.30-6pm Session 4) Literacy: The mechanics and the magic - providing a broad and balanced curriculum for reading and writing, which is ambitious yet highly motivating.

THE 4 SESSIONS ARE DESIGNED AS A COMPLETE COURSE BUT CAN ALSO BE ACCESSED INDIVIDUALLY.
