What is Beer by the River?


Beer by the River 2019 is a beer, food and music festival run by the Ram Quarter and Sambrook's Brewery in the heart of Wandsworth. This is a fun event for all the family to enjoy and is situated at Ram Quarter, by the side of the River Wandle.   

Focused around a fabulous selection of beers, we have great music, kids’ activities, a visit from the Young’s dray horses and a selection of street food.  There is something for everyone and certainly our guests won’t leave disappointed. 

What are the event timings? 

Beer by the River opens at 12 noon on Saturday, 13th July and closes at 9 pm.  Music will end at 6.45 pm and last orders at the bar will be at 8.30pm.

Where is Beer by the River?  

We are holding Beer by the River in the Ram Quarter.  The nearest train station is Wandsworth Town and buses regularly depart from Wandsworth High Street just 2 minutes’ walk from the entrance to the event opposite the Southside shopping Centre. 

By public transport you can arrive via: 

TRAIN: Wandsworth Town – 7 minutes’ walk .

BUS: Wandsworth High Street is a busy bus interchange for the 28, 37, 39, 44, 87, 156, 170, 220, 270, 337 & 485 buses. 

How much does it cost? 

Early bird tickets are available via Eventbrite until the end of June priced at £10. From 1 July online tickets on Eventbrite will be priced at £12 until 24 hours before the event. Tickets will be available on the gate priced at the full rate of £15 per day. Under 18’s will not be charged an entry fee to the festival but must be accompanied by an adult.  

We are also offering a no alcohol ticket online for £5 and £10 on the door. 

What is included in my ticket? 

The ticket price includes the following on entry: 

Two free half pint beer tokens to be redeemed against any of the fabulous beers on offer; 

Festival cup; 


Tours of the old brewery site throughout the day; 

Live music throughout the day; 

Enormous screen for crowds to view the women’s Wimbledon finals; 

A selection of great street food; 

Children’s entertainments including face painting and juggling; 

Youngs Dray horses patrolling the Wandle. 

How do I buy tickets? 

You can buy tickets on the day at full price or discounted tickets through Eventbrite beforehand. 

Are children invited?  

Absolutely, and kids under the age of 18 get free entry.  Our festival is a fun festival for the whole family and there will be a selection of children’s activities during the day.

Can I bring my dog?  

Absolutely, we are a dog friendly event and encourage all well-behaved dogs on leads, to join the fun with us! Please keep your pets on their best behavior and remember to bring disposable bags.

What is the beer selection?   

We will publish our beer list 2 weeks before the event.  Our beer sommelier has carefully selected beers from a range of breweries around the country and we will have over thirty different beers available to try on the day.  We only have a limited supply of each beer on the day, so if there is something particular to try, please arrive early to avoid disappointment. 

I don’t like beer, what else is there?   

For those who are willing to try there is a style of beer out there for everyone, but if you insist that beer is not for you then we have cider and gin cocktails available, alongside a selection of non-alcoholic soft drinks and plenty of tea and coffee.  With our great line up of music and activities through the day there is plenty to enjoy for those that don’t want to drink beer. 

Are there provisions for people with a disability?  

Beer by the River is designed to be an inclusive event and there is disabled access throughout the site.  If you have a particular need please do contact us beforehand so that we can make provisions on 0207 228 0598 or ramevents | d2i ! co ! uk.  

Can I bring a picnic?  

Outside food and drink will not be allowed to be brought in to the festival. There will be a large selection of food available to purchase at the festival.  We reserve the right to run bag checks on entry to the site. 

Can I cycle to the event?

There are no specific bike stands at the festival, but bike stands are situated on Ram Street and Wandsworth High Street. 

Drinking Alcohol Responsibly –

We encourage everyone to enjoy the day and drink responsibly.  Our staff will be running a challenge 25 policy during the day so if you are lucky enough to look younger than 25, please bring some ID with you and don’t be offended if you are asked for ID during the event.
