Join the directors and two of the co-founders, Neba and Selasi for a networking breakfast and discussion about how BFA came into existence and why it is a crucial step into diversifying the built environment industry.

Black Females in Architecture (BFA) was founded by Akua Danso, Alisha Morenike Fisher, Neba Sere and Selasi Setufe in June 2018.

BFA is a support network providing access, creative opportunities and mentorships for black and black mixed heritage women in the built environment, within architecture, planning, construction, interior design, landscape architecture, engineering and urbanism. We believe in the power of black and mixed heritage women and/or non-binary coming together to provide each other a space to experience the opportunities and networks that might not yet be possible to reach.

Selasi Setufe is an architectural designer and entrepreneur. She founded Crystal Design Studios which explores a socially responsive approach to design and architecture, she currently works with Elsie Owusu Architects Ltd as a Project Designer and is a trustee and Co-Vice President for Students and Associates at the Royal Institute of British Architects. Selasi heads BFA’s Membership, Research and Development Team, alongside the operations and management of the network. @s.setufe

Neba Sere is an architectural designer. She has worked for the award-winning Studio Weave and community development organisation Roman Road Trust. Neba set up socially responsive design collective WUH Architecture and she is one of six young trustees of the Architecture Foundation (AF) and currently works at Build Up Foundation as a Youth Construction Leader. Alongside leading the committee team, she leads the Projects and Events Managers, alongside the operations and management of the network.

About BFA

We organise regular meetups, workshops and other events supporting and mentoring our members to build their confidence and expand their skill-set to become the leading practitioners in the built environment industry.

As of this year, BFA have built a community of over 185 members and counting. BFA aims to thrive nationally & globally and increase our representation within our industries, and in so doing, widely improving diversity.
