Branch Line Weekend Friday15th to Sunday 17th March 2019

An action and fun packed weekend showcasing Bluebell Railway’s small locomotives and 2 very special guest locomotives - 02-class 0-4-4-T No. W24 'Calbourne' courtesy of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and LSWR Beattie Well Tank 2-4-0WT No, 30587 courtesy of the National Railway Museum.

Along with our own B4-class No. 30096 ‘Normandy’ and 0415-class No. 30583 Adams Radial Tank, these 2 locomotives will form a spectacular gathering of LSWR built locos in British Railways Black livery.

Supported by Bluebell locos H-class No.263, P-class Tank No.178, O1-class No.65 and Q Class 30541 our 2019 Branch Line Weekend will have a great pre-grouping flavour!

On Friday we will be operating an increased frequency timetable between East Grinstead and Sheffield Park, featuring shorter trains hauled by a selection of locomotives.

On both Saturday and Sunday, it will be a case of “All Change at Horsted Keynes” with a packed timetable of trains between there and both Sheffield Park and East Grinstead and with frequent changes of locomotives.

So, plenty of opportunities to ‘hop on and off’ at different stations and watch the locomotives as they ‘shunt up and down’ at Horsted Keynes to accommodate the mixed timetable.

We’ll also be running Brake Van rides over the weekend at Horsted Keynes so there will be lots to experience and enjoy.

An ideal day out for the whole family with lots of steam and loco action to entertain both little ones and grown-ups alike!

Come along and relive the days when our Railway was very much a rural backwater, with trains to match.

We will be operating a different timetable on each of the three days so why not take the opportunity to spend a long weekend sampling the variety of what our Railway can offer, including locomotives, coaches and stations from the 1880s right through until the mid-1950s.

Come along and see the ‘small but mighty’ engines at their best.
