Everyone’s doing it all the time. Boardrooms around the world preach of their consumer centricity (or closeness or empathy).

But hold on. Why are companies still launching dud products, still giving consumers a bad experience (that doesn’t match with the brand)?

Why are the legendary true stories of genuine empathy making huge commercial impact (British Rail pitch, Dove Real Beauty campaign) such a rarity?

Is the reality that getting close is hard, or ways that it’s been done before haven’t brought a commercial benefit? Are people saying it because they feel they should, that they need to tick a box, or do they genuinely want to?

We’ll be looking both at methodologies to understand the consumer better and how to ensure the consumer is communicated to the business more effectively - do we need to get more creative? We’ll also be combining learnings from our two previous events - The Power of: Finding Your Truth in Marketing (10/18), and The Power of: Storytelling (03/18). Alex Batchelor will chair the day.
