You are invited to a half-day event to share and discuss the findings of NIHR CLAHRC South London's maternity and women's health research.

The purpose of the event is to:

• share findings from our maternity care research and explore the implications for policy and practice

• identify related gaps in evidence and priorities for future research

• engage and involve stakeholders in our research and build on our collaborative relationships.

Professors Jane Sandall and Debra Bick and their colleagues at King’s College London will report on:

• POPPIE – a pilot trial to develop, implement and test a new model of continuity of care for women at risk of preterm birth in south London

• PEONY – a study of the management of high blood pressure before, during or after pregnancy.

They will also report on a number of other CLAHRC South London maternity research studies.

Mary Newburn will talk about patient and public involvement (PPI) in research, and integrating PPI in maternity research with PPI in maternity services.

We are also pleased to welcome a panel of experts to the event who will discuss some of the issues raised. The panel includes:

Baroness Julia Cumberlege (Chair); Professor Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent, Head of Maternity, Children and Young People at NHS England and National Maternity Safety Champion for the Department of Health and Social Care; Lisa Ramsey, Service User Voice Policy Manager, Maternity Transformation Programme, NHS England; Pauline Cross, Consultant Midwife in Public Health, Public Health Lewisham; Andy Shennan, Consultant Obstetrician, Guy's and St Thomas’ Hospital; and Jane Brewin, CEO Tommy’s Charity.

Participants in the workshop will include:

POPPIE and PEONY study partners, advisers and professionals, Health Improvement Network south London members, midwifery leads, commissioners, local maternity system (LMS) leads, service users, researchers, and Maternity Voices Partnership members.

We welcome participants from local authorities, Healthwatch, charities including SANDS, TAMBA, Bliss, Tommy’s and NCT, NHS England, NHS Improvement, the Royal College of Midwives, the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Saving Babies’ Lives Care Bundle leads, NHS England London, the Maternity Transformation Stakeholder Council and the NIHR.
