JULIE WELCH talks about THE FLEET STREET GIRLS – inspiring, shocking tales from the male dominated newspaper world of the 70s and 80s

About this Event

Back in the 1970s, Julie Welch was Britain's first ever female football reporter, having fought her way into the pressbox from secretarial level at a time when, in a male dominated Fleet Street, women were expected make the tea, not report on the news.

Julie also shines a light on other trail-blazing women, the likes of Lynn Barber (of An Education fame) to Wendy Holden, a war correspondent for the Daily Telegraph. Pioneers one and all.

Entry to this Zoom event is free. Once you have registered you will be sent an email with an invitation to join us on the night.
