Walk from Purfleet–on–Thames to intu Lakeside for lunch on the boardwalk.

Thursday 24th September
10:45 - 15:00
Starting at the High House Production Park we will take in views across the river Thames and look over to Kent. Once we leave Purfleet we walk through part of Watts Wood, then along the Mardyke Way to Davy Down.
After crossing the A13 we pass Sainsbury’s and walk along roads to Chafford Station entering intu Lakeside by the footbridge.
We'll round off the day with lunch at the Boardwalk, for those that wish to.

• Registration 10:45 – meet at the Backstage Centre Car Park, High House Production Park, Purfleet RM19 1RX
• 11:00 – 13:00 – Walk to Lakeside
• 13:00 – 15:00 – Lunch at the Boardwalk
• Event End 15:00 – Intu Shopping Centre Lakeside RM20 2ZN

Walk Info
• Duration: 2 hours
• Distance: 4.5miles
• Grading: Moderate
• Terrain: flat. A mixture of firm gravel paths, unmade paths and paved paths. This route isn’t accessible for wheelchairs or pushchairs and crosses a main road.

Start: Purfleet (with a 20 minute walk to the High House Production Park)
End: Chafford Hundred Station
Start: 44 – Hutson Terrace bus stop on London Road
End: There are multiple bus stops at Intu Lakeside for you to continue your journey. You can also get the 44 back to Purfleet – on- Thames.

Parking at the start and end is free.

This walk isn’t accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
BUT with a slight detour it could be. The route goes through Watts Wood however it is possible to go along the road and join at the start of the Mardyke Way which is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
T100 walks are of different lengths and on different terrain. Some are mainly on footpaths, and others mainly on footpaths where ground may be uneven. If this walk doesn’t suit you, there is probably another one that will.
Please note:
You need to choose walks within your capabilities; the walk leaders are experienced but must take your word that you are sufficiently fit for the grade of walk you have chosen.
Due care has been exercised in organising the walks, however Kinetika, the funders and associated partners of the project cannot accept liability for loss, accident or injury caused to any person following the routes, especially unsupervised. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

What to take
Please ensure that you are properly equipped for all walks. The weather can be unpredictable so bring waterproof clothing and/or sun hats and sun cream – it’s best to be prepared for everything!
Walking boots/shoes are recommended, but otherwise please wear suitable and comfortable footwear- best to leave open-toe sandals or high heels at home. Make sure you bring a packed lunch if necessary, and plenty to drink.
At the end of the walk we will be enjoying a talk and lunch along the boardwalk at Intu Lakeside. There are lots of shops, food outlets and public toilets at the Centre. Some refreshments will be provided but you may wish to bring money with you for any additional purchases.
Face masks are advisable for the event if you wish to use public toilets and essential if you wish to visit local shops or are travelling via public transport.

We will be taking photographs and video of this event to promote and celebrate the project in print and online. If you do not give consent to be photographed or filmed, that’s absolutely fine, please let a member of the Kinetika team know on the day.
