So for some of us talking pensions is as much fun as...getting a Brazilian wax.  So we will make this as pain-free as possible. When you're in your 20's-30's even 40's talking pensions is a topic that's really hard to connect with ... I mean we're trying to tackle tinder, not our retirement (right)! There are mortgages to pay, children to be had, holidays to plan, therefore we put it off and stuff those envelopes in a draw (you know the A4 sized ones).

However the stats don't lie and ladies, we gotta wake up and smell the coffee (cause it's burning). We are living longer, earning less and retiring on a lot less than men (sorry to sugar coat it).  More than half of us ladies who hold a pension don't know where it’s invested and a close to a third of us (37%) don't know how much it is worth.

So the good news is you're not alone. The better news is we are going to be breaking down the world of pensions into bite-sized, delicious chunks on 3 September at Financial Times new offices in London (yes we are a little fancy).

Our panel of industry experts will be looking at what you need to know about taking control of your retirement NOW. So if you currently don't know how much is in your pension, what it is being invested into, what it should be invested into or think 'do I really need a pension'... then this event is for you!

We are taking it back to basics and will look at:

How much do you need for retirement and your pension (and how the hell do you work it out)

What is your pension being invested into

Types of pensions (yeah there's more than one)

The magic of compound interest and why you need to know about this

What does investing your pension ethically mean

When can you access your pension and how etc

We will also cover a heap of other information and most importantly give you practical steps so you can start taking charge of your future like a boss! Plus you’ll also have the opportunity to quiz our expert panelists with your own questions.

Speakers include:

Lisa Conway-Hughes, Miss Lolly

Financial advisor, author, blogger, podcaster with a ridiculous IQ! She is a qualified Financial Advisor with fifteen years' experience and a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. To date, she has appeared in the Guardian, Financial Times, Telegraph, Independent, Glamour and Citywire as well as on BBC News, discussing subjects such as The Budget.

Jasper Martens, CMO at  PensionBee

In the dusty old pension world, Jasper brings pensions back in people's mind with PensionBee, UK's first online pension manager. Leading up product and marketing, he brings 15 years of experience to the fintech startup, recognised as one of the Fintech50, and as Schroders Leading Digital Platform of the Year 2018.  PensionBee is the first and only pension company to bring their customers’ pension balances into the open banking revolution. Before joining PensionBee, Jasper was Head of Marketing and Communications at small business insurance provider Simply Business.

And more to be announced shortly.

This is an event you can’t (literally) afford to miss if you want to make the most of your future freedom.

The night promises great chats, prosecco (obvs) and nibbles!
