Workshop Overview

Cultivating self-compassion and treating ourselves as we would a dear friend we care about can help us relate to our own imperfections and challenges without the self-blame and -criticism that can often be so destructive to our well-being. In this one-day workshop you will be introduced to the key principles of self-compassion, as well as a variety tools from the evidence-based self-compassion interventions. By practising self-compassion for yourself, you will gain a better understanding of the mental health benefits it can also hold for others.

Specific Learning Objectives

Through meditation, discussion, and experiential exercises, the workshop will enable you to achieve the following learning outcomes:

Identify the three main components of self-compassion;

Describe key research that supports the benefits of self-compassion;

Practice techniques to increase self-compassion in everyday life;

Motivate yourself with kindness rather than self-criticism; and

Understand the role of self-compassion in caregiver fatigue.

Who Is It For

This workshop is suitable for anyone looking to learn more about the benefits of self-compassion, including mindfulness teachers, mental health care professionals, caregivers, and anyone else.  No prior mindfulness or self-compassion experience is required.
